Your Center
Greetings everyone!
For those of you who were wondering: Yes, I was in one of the mandatory evacuation zones, but only gone from my home for four days.
Luck was with me! I met an old friend, a volunteer at the Red Cross center, who graciously took me in. My dog, who had been trapped at home, was recued after over 28 hours by another friend. For her 15-1/2 years, she’s none the worse for wear. We were treated like royalty during the whole time we were gone. Although we’re home now, I’m still a bit discombobulated and I know others who were gone longer and suffered damage are even in worse shape—even if they aren’t aware of it.
This month’s article is on the Center of your home. Fortunately, I wrote it earlier on the day I was evacuated. Otherwise, I may have skipped writing this month all together. I just read it over. Since it’s appropriate to enhance the Center when you’re not grounded or centered, I was reminded to go and check the center of my own home.
GUESS WHAT! I found a pile of partially opened mail and lots of other things stacked on the stairs. Since the central stairway issue has already been handled, all I needed to do was to quickly handle the papers and other clutter. It’s only been a few minutes, but I’m already feeling more centered. Later I will clean and vacuum the area to release more stagnant energy.
To all of the evacuees: Be kind to yourself! Don’t feel like you have to get everything done. People in our community are incredibly compassionate. Let them support you. It’s even okay to ask for support.
Blessings to all of you!
Suzanne
YOUR CENTER – A Place of Harmony & Balance
Have you ever felt like you’ve lost your personal center or that you’re out of sync with the world? If this is a chronic way of being for you, check out the Feng Shui of The Center of your home and the rooms where you spent a lot of time—like your bedroom. Also examine areas outside of your home (your office, for instance) where you spend a significant amount of time.
Before technology ruled and life became so rushed, the home was the considered the center of life. Families ate meals together and our social life was more often than not family centered. Of course, there were exceptions, but overall life was heart and hearth centered. (It’s interesting to note that the center of your home also influences your heart along, your heart chakra, and other internal organs.)
Although the Center is technically not a part of the Bagua, it’s extremely important. Energy flows out in all directions from the Center of your home where it unites with and influences the energy of the eight areas of the Bagua.
It’s often located in a transition area such as a hallway. If so, you may move through it quickly and become unconscious about what’s there. However, it’s likely that whatever is located here is reflected in the rest of your space.
In the same way that the most important organs in our body are positioned in the center, a home or a room with issues in the center is an immediate tipoff to me that one or more of the occupants may be suffering a well-being issue in the physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual realm.
WHAT IS IN THE CENTER OF YUR HOME? How does this area look and feel? If a stairway, long hallway, bathroom, bedroom, a fireplace, stove, furnace, or utility room is located here, it’s likely that you need a Feng Shui adjustment.
A kitchen, family room, or living room is located in the Center can be auspicious. However, be sure to balance the five elements, if there the stove or fireplace is also here.
REASONS TO ENHANCE THIS AREA:
- You wish to increase your vitality
- You need a general health tune-up
- You are experiencing depression, fatigue, an eating disorder, or allergies
- You have a health problem that your doctor is unable to diagnose
- You feel the need to integrate separate parts of your life
- You want to feel more grounded and centered
- You are scattered and have difficulty focusing
- You feel stuck and unable to move on
- You’re having difficulty taking care of general home maintenance
- Clutter is an issue
COMMON ADJUSTMENTS:
- Golden yellow or other earthy colors such as tan or orange
- Square shaped and low flat rectangular furniture or décor.
- Items created from the earth element.
- If you have a fireplace or stove here, balance fire with the other four elements.
- Vibrant plants, fresh flowers, artwork depicting earthy landscapes, or representations of health and vitality.
- Heavy and/or comfortable furniture
It’s also appropriate to add anything to this area that reminds you to stay centered and grounded.
Finally, think of the Center of your home as the center of your own personal universe. This is where all of your goals and desires merge and ultimately flow out into manifestation.
May your home bring balance and harmony to your life!
