Feng Shui, Stress & Your Bedroom

Do you watch the news? Very scary! Ebola and health in general have been heading the news much of the time.

In last month’s article, I spoke about the relationship between Feng Shui, Fear and Still Water. If you’re fearful about your health (or anything else), take a look. It’s a well-known fact that fear releases hormones that suppress the immune system.

Your immune system may also be affected by the quality of your sleep, the time changes that most of us in the United States experienced last weekend, the weather, overscheduling, and stress. Most Westerners are definitely overscheduled and stressed!

Stress can make us vulnerable to viruses and bacterial infections. Its effect can also contribute to sleep problems, fatigue, and an overall lack of well-being.

Poison arrows contribute significantly to stress. Most homes have at least a few and many homes have several in every room. Poison arrows are straight lines of negative energy and are a problem when they are pointed directly toward you. They are sharp or pointed edges found in the building itself. They may also be caused by furniture and other household objects. They can also be found outside of your home. For example, a sharp corner of a neighboring home pointing directly at your home is a poison arrow. Keep in mind however, that it’s the poison arrows closest to you that will cause the most harm.

They are especially harmful in your bedroom if they point directly toward you as you sleep. Find a way to cover them. Often placing plants or draping fabric over any area pointing directly toward you will solve the problem.

Other features in your bedroom that can create stress, compromise your sleep, and lead to health problems are:

  • HIGH EMFS (electromagnetic frequencies) – A good rule of thumb is to unplug everything in your bedroom—especially anything close to your head. Use battery powered clocks, etc. whenever possible.
  • A TV IN YOUR BEDROOM – The simple remedy is to cover it before going to sleep.
  • STORAGE UNDER YOUR BED – This prevents energy from circulating around you and nourishing you as you sleep. If you absolutely must store anything here, it should relate to sleep–such as bedding or sleep clothing.
  • CLUTTER – Relocate it to another area. Although clutter will affect any areas where it’s located, it’s especially important that it not be in your sleeping room.
  • COVER OR REMOVE ANYTHING NOT RELATED TO SLEEP, RELAXATION, OR ROMANCE. If your bedroom shares space with a desk, anything related to work, or exercise equipment, find a way to cover or screen it off.
  • STAGNANT ENERGY – Surprisingly, clutter is not the only kind of stagnant energy. There are several types of clutter in addition to anything not needed, loved, or used.
    • Oversized furniture or anything that blocks the free movement of anyone moving through your space. Everything should easily fit so that even the largest person moving through the area is able to easily walk through without bumping anything.
    • Rooms that are never used. If an area is unused, make it a point to go into it. Walk around and rearrange a few things with the intention of energizing the space.
    • Storage that is left unused for long periods of time. This, of course, excludes holiday decorations as long as they’re used yearly.
    • Your body’s stagnant energy is also included. Although, this is not a Feng Shui problem (unless there are features in your home that discourage movement). Your body is designed to move in order to keep all of its systems working. If you have problems with a particular area of your body, go to the corresponding area of the Bagua.

Also consider that The Center of the Bagua is the major health area of any space, and make sure that area is clean and balanced.

Finally, if you’re feeling stuck and can’t get started, enhance or remedy your Knowledge area to assure that it is promoting health and well-being.

May you be blessed with radiant health!
