Grab your lucky Rabbit’s Foot!
The Chinese Lunar New Year of the Metal Rabbit begins on February 3rd and ends on January 22, 2012.
In contrast to the intensity and speed of the Metal Tiger last year, expect this year to be more gentle and peaceful. You can finally slow down and catch your breath. (Be aware though, until the 3rd we are still under the influence of the Tiger.)
Continuing with the theme of last month’s newsletter, we’re still in a time of transition. So, if you weren’t able to spend time visualizing and creating a new or improved direction for yourself during the western New Year celebration, you still have time to set the stage for improvements.
The Helpful People area of your home and office is particularly important now. This area is located in the front right corner of a room or your home as you face inward from the door. Helpful People is related to heaven and a higher power. Make sure that this area is clean and contains a symbol of your connection with your higher self or to a higher power. Items that can enhance this energy are fountains, plants, and inspirational artwork or objects.
Simplify now! Notice if you can find easier ways to handle routines or if there are activities or projects you can eliminate. Pay special attention to your life purpose and commit to actions that will move you toward it.
You will facilitate your transition into the Rabbit year by cleaning your home and taking care of maintenance problems both inside and outside of your home. Replace light bulbs that are not working and discard broken appliances. Then, plan a New Year’s feast and prepare a variety of foods with plenty of leftovers to symbolize that you’ll have an abundance of money coming in next year.
The Metal element is still predominant this year. Keep in mind that Metal has much to do with order, beauty, and boundaries. It’s also related to your lungs, so be mindful of your breath and handle any respiratory problems.
If there are any areas of your life where you’re not moving forward, they may be due to over-caution or fear. Rabbits are naturally cautious. This can be good—even life- saving—but, it’s important to note if you are being too careful and holding yourself back. Try new things and be willing to step out a bit.
The Moon is one of the symbols related to the Rabbit. Its energy is yin and soft. This energy is compatible with anything related to family, your love interests, art, and beauty. It’s a great time to slow down and take that watercolor or woodworking class you’ve been thinking about.
All of the Full Moons this year can be magical. Take time to gaze on them. Visualize moon energy filling your body with wisdom, light, strengthening your personal chi, and moving you toward your goals.
The Dog is the most compatible sign to the Rabbit, It’s considered lucky to wear a dog charm or hang artwork depicting a dog in your space during this year. The late HH Grandmaster Lin Yun Rinpoche always told us that, “When the Dog meets the Rabbit the path to wealth becomes apparent!” A combination Pig & Goat charm is also in harmony with the Rabbit.
Are You A Rabbit? Folks born in a Rabbit year are kind, loving, and have a peaceful nature. Despite this, they can be stubborn and strong-willed. They are usually cautious, do things in an orderly way, and try not to “rock the boat.” They tend to be frugal, able to fend for themselves, and are protective of their possessions.
Rabbits usually love art and music and are often talented in these directions. If their homes don’t provide the comfort and beauty that they love, they can easily become depressed.
Baby Bunnies born this year will tend to be sweet, even-tempered, and obedient. They will want to fit in and are therefore sensitive to their parents moods and will try to please them.
Hang on to your Rabbit’s foot!
Gung Hay Fat Choy.
All the best in the year of the Rabbit!
