FENG SHUI NOTES - August 2010 Greetings Everyone! The earth element is predominant during the late summer months. August is the time to slow down and enjoy your home and yard. The time you spent in the garden should finally be paying off. And, even if you’re not a gardener, we’re over half way through the summer cycle and it’s time to build some relaxation into your schedule and enjoy the Earth. As I mentioned last month, this month’s newsletter is dedicated to questions and answers. Thank you to everyone who sent questions! Since all of the questions this time centered around the potency of remedies and enhancements and/or creating and retaining wealth, I’ve taken the liberty of combining them into general questions in these two categories. Next month’s article will be dedicated to back-to-school. QUESTIONS & ANSWERS A: Great question! When we worked together, you applied all of the mundane cures and also did all of the transcendental cures that I recommended. Our work was directed specifically to you, your family members, and your home. There are three common reasons why the cures that worked for you didn’t work for your friend: 1. The circumstances surrounding each home and person are different and the cures given to you were wrong for your friend and the circumstances in her life. 2. In Feng Shui, we acknowledge that there are “Five Aspects of Destiny.” Each aspect controls approximately 20% of our fortune. They are Feng Shui, karma, luck, fate, and good works. Her problems might not have been Feng Shui related. It’s important to note though that good Feng Shui helps to reduce the influence of the other four. 3. She did not accept the information you provided in a respectful manner and/or did not honor the tradition of the red envelope. Q: Could you explain what transcendental cures are and why are they are important? A: Transcendental Cures are extremely powerful, non-rational solutions for moving hidden energy. They go deeper into curing fundamental problems and removing or shifting unseen energies from a space. There are many reasons for doing these cures, but the following are common:
Since the building carries the energy of subsequent owners, if a previous owner had problems, there is a strong possibility that new owners would encounter the same or similar issues. Q: Could you explain the tradition of the red envelope? A: This refers to an exchange of red envelopes containing some money given by a client or student to a Feng Shui practitioner or anyone who has provided enhancements or remedies. Since Feng Shui is an oral tradition, the information provided verbally is considered sacred. The red envelope is a protection for both the practitioner and the client for the exchange of this knowledge. It also strengthens and increases the effectiveness of remedies and enhancements. Q: I’ve read several books on Feng Shui and spent considerable time and money enhancing my Wealth area. However, I seem to be losing more than I’m gaining. HELP! A: My intuitive hit is that you have created cure clutter in this area! This means is that you’ve probably paced too many cures, rather than the right one. If this resonates, take everything out of your Wealth area. Notice how you feel about each article. Then pick one item—one that you love and that feels good--and put it back in the wealth area. Store everything else. Wait for at least a month and see what happens. If you’re not getting the result you desire, remove that item and choose something else. Also, the problem may not be with the Wealth area. Creating wealth with Feng Shui is not just about the Wealth area. The entire bagua should be in balance. Also, there are other home and land features related to creating and maintaining wealth. Q: I’ve been told that in order to preserve wealth, it’s important to keep all of the drains closed and toilet seats down. Is this true? A: Closing drains and toilet seats helps, not only with the loss of energy (including money), but also keeps the energy from sewage and wastewater from returning to your home. One of the transcendental cures that I use as an alternative is called “sealing the doors.” This is a ceremony that is done periodically with all openings in a building to retain good energy and to keep threatening energies from the outside from entering. Enjoy the rest of your summer and RELAX into the earth energy!
